In legal proceedings, when an advocate raises an objection during arguments, the judge can respond in two ways: “Objection sustained” or “Objection overruled.”
- Objection sustained means the judge agrees with the objection. As a result, the particular argument or submission is not allowed to continue.
- Objection overruled means the judge does not agree with the objection. As a result, the particular argument or submission is allowed to continue.
