What is Law? Or Define Law in Brief

Law is a set of mandatory rules and regulations made and enforced by the Government of India, Parliament, state legislatures, local authorities and other authorized bodies under the control of the Indian government. These laws are intended to maintain justice, peace and public order throughout the country.

India follows the principle of the rule of law, which means that everyone – including the government – is subject to the law. The term ‘law’ includes any ordinances, orders, bye-laws, rules, regulations, notifications, customs and usages that are in effect in the territory of India.

When a person violates any of these laws, he/she may face legal consequences such as imprisonment, fine or both, depending on the severity of the offence.
